2011 CrossFit Games

The CrossFit Games Open begins Tuesday, March 15th

The six week worldwide competition is the first step in qualifying for the 2011 CrossFit Games in Los Angeles.

The CrossFit Games Open is a six-week competition that will begin Tuesday, March 15th at 17:00 PDT. This competition is the first step in qualifying for the 2011 CrossFit Games. Each week, one event will be announced each Tuesday, and everyone has until the following Sunday at 17:00 PDT to complete the event and record their scores.

There are two ways to compete:

1. Compete at a Registered Affiliate: Attend a workout session at a registered affiliate and submit your score for the affiliate to validate.

2. Compete Anywhere: Perform the workout as prescribed anywhere you can or want, and videotape it. Submit your score and upload your video.

We are developing a comprehensive website to handle the technical requirements of the worldwide Open. That website will go live the week before the competition. It will have robust registration, scoring, and reporting capabilities. If you're an affiliate, you will have the opportunity to Opt-In each week. There will be a few criteria that you must abide by, but generally you will have a lot of freedom over how and when you host the competition.

 Complete details are coming soon!

  2. Great work Claire and congratulations!

PB- thanks for the updates on Sectionals. It's sure to be a blast.

I'm currently enjoying life in back-woods west virginia where there isn't a gym within 100miles and eating right consists of removing the fried breading before consuming. Being forced to live here is exactly what I envision hell to be like. Can't wait to get back to CO with the redheads.

I was checking the mainsite before heading to the job site this morning when I saw this... http://games.crossfit.com/blog/2011/02/crossfit-arnold,1030/
I will be very near Ohio that weekend and I'm considering attending the event for the weekend. Is anyone planning on attending/competing in this? I thought I would ask since Columbus is PB's old stomping grounds.

  3. ok...I signed up for the Arnold CF competition so now I have to figure out how to get out there and make fit it around work. This should be a good test before the games competitions kick off.

  6. Congrats to Claire on her progress. She had earned my respect and admiration strictly on my interactions with her in the gym. To find out she was also a soldier just adds to the high regards I hold her in. Great job and keep up the good work!

Good luck Nate. The whole Arnold event would be awesome to see, and competing in the CF portion will be a challenge and a great time. I am happy your work travel finally has a positive impact on your Crossfit.

  7. I definitely don't need to read why choosing Claire as January's Athlete of the Month was easy- she's got "Determination and Tenacity" written all over her.... a resilient girl of toughness. I'll never forget the first time I saw her working out at RED- she was doing some KB snatch and burpee WOD and, man, i feel like i've never seen someone try so hard, like you knew that her heart and soul was driven into that workout and nothing was gonna stop her. And, has anyone noticed that she often does these WODs on her own, and Rx? An inspiring athlete, mom, wife, and soldier... to say the least. Congrats Claire- you deserve every bit of that title... I look forward to watching you grow at RED.

To Nate B.- that Arnold event looks awesome.. so glad that one of us Redheads will get the chance to experience it. I looked into going but its too last minute. Can’t wait to hear all about it.

  9. Claire is such a hard worker, but her hard work will never outdo her beautiful smile (or that beautiful little girl). Congrats, girl!

  10. I am not a member of the gym, but I just wanted to add to all these wonderful comments about my friend, Claire, than in addition to being "An inspiring athlete, mom, wife, and soldier" she is also a stand-up, amazing friend and deserves all the kudos she's getting and more. You're all lucky to have her in GJ!
